Hania Rani - "Glass"

Heads-up Jean-Michel Blais fans. If you dug dans ma main, put Polish artist Hania Rani on your listen list. There's only one song from Esja posted in advance of the album's April 5 release on Gondwana Records, but "Glass" certainly suggests what the tags at the bottom of the Bandcamp denote - this is for fans of "ambient," "classical," "electronic," and "modern classical" music.

It is meditative, beautiful music and on a particularly cold Winnipeg afternoon, I can think of nothing better to warm my soul.

Caoifhionn Rose - "Awaken"

It's pronounced Keelin as Rose's Bandcamp bio helpfully mentions. Only the title-track / lead-off song is streaming at the moment in advance of the full-length release on Gondwana Records on October 12th so I can't say for certain that the rest of it isn't drastically different and more in line with the jazz stuff label head Matthew Halsall is responsible for, but it was certainly not what I was expecting. "Awaken" is a pleasant surprise and a gauzy folk-rock number with beautifully reverbed guitars and Rose's supple voice. Matthew Halsall - "Breathless"

Something beautiful and mellow to ease you into the week. I've previously mentioned Manchester's Halsall in association with the Gondwana Orchestra, but  On The Go (out May 20th) is credited to him alone.
